Statistics from WaterAid indicates that 3.4 million people lack access to an improved water source in Ghana with 86 per cent not having access to improved sanitation. While annually, 3,645 children under five years old die from poor water and sanitation in the country.

In that regard, WaterAid’s Country Representative, Dr. Afia Zakiya has urged all Ghanaians to harness resources to support the cause of making lives more meaningful for the vulnerable in society.

She notes that such a move will provide a stable environment for the deprived in communities and propel human development to greater heights.

Hence to buttress its statement and deed of always bettering the lives of the needy in society, WaterAid Ghana, on the occasion to celebrate World Water Day on March 22, 2013 in Accra, presented a more comfortable wheel chair to its Water Ambassador, Ajara Mohamed.

This year’s World Water Day celebration was on the theme:  “International Year for Water Cooperation”. It is commemorated annually on the United Nation’s calendar to focus attention and advocate for the effective management and use of fresh water resources.

The 10 kilometer walk organized by WaterAid and Guinness Ghana was dubbed: “Accra Walks for Water 2013”, was part of several ways to solicit funds to execute an integrated water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) project for students and teachers of the Akropong School for the Blind in the Eastern region.

Making her remarks, Corporate Relations Director at Guinness Ghana, Ms. Preba Greenstreet explained that her outfit believed in empowering the vulnerable in society, hence, their collaboration with WaterAid Ghana to improve access to safe drinking water and sanitation for the Akropong School for the Blind.

Towards the blind school’s WASH project, the Relations Director stressed “through employee donations and support from Diageo’s business in North America, GGBL will match all funds raised up to the full cost of the GH₵79,000.”

The walk started at the Aviation Social Centre through some principal streets of Accra. The set up was made of student groups, staff members of WaterAid, Guiness Ghana, and Green is Easy Foundation, the security services and other well meaning Ghanaians.

  1. Guys, I need your help. If you search well, then among your friends and acquaintances there will probably be at least one person who used the timetoessay.com essay writing service. I got into a bad situation. I ordered an essay, but it was written very poorly. The situation is further aggravated by the fact that there is no time left for new work and it is necessary to redo the existing one. But it seems to me that I will not have time. Can I appeal to them? This is a good company, how long have they been on the market and provide essay writing services?
